Abeokuta Golf Club, Untapped Goldmine says Oba Gbadebo

The Alake and paramount ruler of Egbaland, Oba Adedotun Aremu Gbadebo has revealed that Abeokuta Golf Club remain an untapped goldmine.

The Monarch said this while appealing to government at all levels and people of Ogun State to rally support for development of Abeokuta Golf Club to a world class standard as it’s remain another goal mind of the State that is yet untapped into .

The paramount ruler emphasized it during the closing ceremony of his 14th coronation annual amateur golf tournament put together by Abeokuta golf Club and Oando Plc.

The Kabiesi Alake who was represented by the Agura of Gbagura, Oba Saburi Bakre, Amororo the second, said unique feature of Abeokuta golf is very numerous that cannot be compared to any not even in the country but all over the world.

Oba Aremu Gbadebo said, Ogun state is really blessed with so many natural resources that is uncommon or that cannot be compared with any in the world and Abeokuta golf club is one of those natural endowment God has given to the State and it’s very important for both the government and people develop to world class standard by invested in it for tourism businesses as one of the global major source of income.

The Captain of Abeokuta Golf club, Tpl Adewale Adeogun in his welcome address, congratulate the Kabiesi Alake and Paramount Ruler of Egad Land, Adedotun Aremu Gbadebo on his 14th coronation anniversary , said the club is always proud to be identifying with him as the Royal father of the club also commended the gesture of the tournament Oando Plc, said their gesture would go a long way in developing and promoting the game of golf in Nigeria.

Adeogun appealing to the present administration in the State led by Prince Dapo Abiodun and his entire cabinet members to rally support for Abeokuta Golf Club that is presently begging for serious attention of all added that it’s not out of play for governor to help the club, said AGC is a creature of Ogun State Government and every siting Governor of the State is the Grand Patron of the Club and would become Patron after leaving the office as a governor.

The managing Director Oando Pls Mr. Onamofe Boyo, congratulate Kabiesi Alake of Egba Land and all members of AGC for the successful hosted of this year 14th edition of Alake annual coronation golf torment that has come to stay in the Nigeria golfing calendar, assured that they will continue to improve on the standard of the competition every year in respective of economic challenges in the country.

Mr. Boyo disclosed that sponsoring of annual Alake Golf Tournament is one their civic responsibility as long as Kabiesi Alake remains their Chairman Oando Oil Plc, it will continue as the only way for them to say thank you to him by continue sponsoring the competition in his honour.

Prince Robert Bakre, a member of AGC and Ikoyi golf Club, commended effort put together by the organisers and sponsors of the tournament according to him said it’s a perfect arrangements and AGC course played is second to none today in the country despite challenges of funding that is confronting the club yet management is doing their best to maintaining it and still the best.
At the high point of the event was the presentation of prices and trophies, 120 golfers took part in the game while 15 of them emerged as winner from various categories.
