Ladies and Gentlemen

I stand humbly before you this afternoon to appreciate your confidence and trust in making me the Captain, Abeokuta Golf Club. On behalf of the newly elected Executive Committee, I want to assure you of our dedication and commitment to serve our dear club diligently.

In the days leading to this Annual General Meeting (AGM), I have interacted with many of our members and visitors on what they would like to see happen on the course and in the club. My personal commitment to you is that your voice will be influential in the management and administration of Abeokuta Golf Club. In pursuance of this, I acknowledge that the greatest strength of our Club is its members. To this extent, we shall not take you for granted. We shall continue to work with you to improve the services in the Club and elevate our Club to a major golf destination in Africa.

I use this opportunity to call on the body of past Captains and Lady Captains that you have a special position in the history and the future of this Club. I humbly ask you to continue to make yourselves available and accessible to us so that your wealth of experience will guide our steps and ensure that the long-term plans of the Club benefit from your collective experiences on the job.

I am delighted that we have a Course Officer in the new set of Executive Committee. I want to use this opportunity to therefore appreciate the dedication of Tpl. Wale Adeogun, a past Captain; who had selflessly filled the gap created by the absence of a Course Officer in the 2023 Executive Committee. I assure you that, we (the Course Officer and I) shall work closely with our resident professional golfers, sponsors, and volunteers to keep our course in a pristine condition all year round.

I pledge to you that we shall serve this Club with integrity and efficiency. We shall not shy away from making tough decisions, but we shall consult widely and be fair in all our dealings. In the coming days, our Club Calendar for the entire year will be rolled out. This will indicate all the kitties, tournaments, and trips that we shall prosecute in this year. I hope that the calendar will enable our members to plan and maximize their positive experiences this golfing year.

On this note, I thank you heartily and rededicate myself and this team to your service.
